Resting on the Old Dock
Is one of my favorite paintings. This is how our dock looked before
it was fixed up. This scene is early in the morning when the sun is
filtering into the bay and burning off the mist on Longbow Lake
Ontario.
Patrolling the Old Trail:
I live in the Manitoba Interlake region,
north of Winnipeg. We are on the southern range of the timber wolves,
they do visit, but rarely and their tracks often tell an interesting
story. The scenery shown here is from the east side
of our property. The early morning light is fleeting. In order to get it
just right (my camera just didn't do it justice) I had to drag this
painting out just before sunrise each morning and then try and make
colour samples to get each area just right, in the few minutes the light
was right. I'm not usually a morning
person, especially when the temperature is below zero. But I was finally
happy with the results.
Early Morning Paddle:
We spend a lot of time in the shield country east of Kenora, Ontario,
often going on backcountry canoe trips. There is something almost
spiritual about being on the water early in the morning in the gently
rising mist.
