Gentle Lady - Rosie

24 x 18"

oil on canvas

Rosie's painting is magnificent, superb, matchless!"
My wife Sandy has a gorgeous six year old quarter horse named Rosie, and I
thought she might like an oil painting of her for a birthday gift. I
commissioned Bonnie Hamlin to execute the work after I had seen examples of
exquisite pictures of other horses from the stable that she had painted.
Bonnie was unstoppable and magnificent: she took many pictures of our animal
and then made sketches of six. That started a merry go round of emails, with
suggestions from me about what I thought would be best, and Bonnie reworking
the sketches until we had what we both wanted. The oil painting that
resulted is exultant: the expression on the horse's face captures her
intelligence, capriciousness, indeed her very essence, and Bonnie's superb
talent has created a masterpiece of fine art which graces our living room
opposite a south facing window so that the quality of the light maximizes
the beauty of the picture. The brush work on the painting almost brings the
horse to life in a way that no photograph ever could and we are totally
delighted to possess such a beautifully crafted, matchless, unique work. Our
only problem now is to persuade Bonnie to paint our three dogs...!

Palomino Beauty - Rafi

24 x 18"

oil on canvas

Dear Bonnie

Every day I thank you for painting the wonderful portrait of my beloved horse Rafi. This painting for me is a forever painting. Let me explain.

There are some periods and relationships in life that are so precious that you just want time to stand still so they can go on forever. This is how I feel about my experience at the barn [Triple M Ranch] with good friends, good times and the magnificent horses. To this day I look at Rafi and marvel that I actually own this beautiful animal. The days at the barn have truly been some of the happiest and most joyful times of my life. There have also been some of the saddest, as unfortunately with animals there are often tragedies. But at the barn I always feel fully alive and fully engaged and that I belong.

However, time will not stand still and the relationships, the horses and the people will come and go. These times will pass and a new chapter will begin. But I will have this painting forever and forever I will be able to look into these big brown eyes and remember the laughter and the tears and the times we had.

I thank you for this, for capturing those memories forever.

Yours Sincerely,

E. Louise Nebbs
